Today in 1986, US Patent 4610888 A was issued, an invention of James Teng and John H. Dokos, assigned to the Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc., for their "Beer Foam Enhancing Process and Apparatus." Here's the Abstract: A beer foaming process and apparatus in which a smooth stable foam is formed by intimately admixing a nitrogen containing gas, preferably air, by a Venturi effect in a nozzle positioned on the beer tap.

Pierce Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company, today announced an order for 48 PierceA custom fire and emergency vehicles from the Kansas City Fire Department in Kansas City, Missouri. The order is for a wide range of custom apparatus, including 28 pumpers, nine aerial platforms, four rescue pumpers, three heavy-duty rescues, three aerial tillers, and one Hazmat unit.

Excel Apparatus Services, Inc. will jointly host its first Pump System Optimization course with WEG Electric Corporation. One-day training course will be conducted by certified PSO Instructor William C. Livoti from WEG Electric. Developed by HI and its engineering members, course will focus on why efficient pumps and motors are important and offer an understanding of the full engineering systems optimization process and specific improvement opportunities in any complex pumping system.
