UK house price growth accelerates, Halifax says

Property values in July rose at the fastest annual rate since last November, the Halifax says.

The Halifax says that a 1.9% annual rise in prices reflects "a relatively subdued" housing market.

The Nationwide building society says prices grew at an annual rate of 2.1%.

The average price of a home has fallen by more than 2,000 since November, according to the Halifax.
