"...many countries are already offering Fiber to the Home at affordable prices" I think the sticking point is that the U.S. is not one of those countries. Verizon is the only major cable company that I know of here that runs fiber to the home, and they have gotten criticism from their stockholders for 'wasting' money doing that when all the other ISP's are still muddling along with coax.
