As part of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s "Skills for Business" initiative, NIST is funding the development of a visualization tool that will show the demand for and availability of critical cybersecurity jobs across the nation. Funded through NIST’s National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, project will provide data to help employers, job seekers, policy makers, training providers, and guidance counselors meet today’s increasing demand for cybersecurity workers.

NIST issued the Community Resilience Planning Guide for Buildings and Infrastructure Systems to help U.S. communities better withstand and rebound from the shocks of severe weather, earthquakes, and other hazards. Issued on the third anniversary of Hurricane Sandy, guide lays out a practical 6-step process that communities can follow to develop resilience plans to help them prepare for hazards, adapt to changing conditions, and withstand and rapidly recover from disruptions.

NIST Cyber-Physical Systems Public Working Group (CPSPWG) released "Draft Framework for Cyber-Physical Systems" for public comment. Cyber-Physical systems (CPS) are defined within draft framework as "smart systems that include engineered interacting networks of physical and computational components." Document describes foundational concepts and provides methodology for understanding, designing, and building CPS that can work with one another. Comments will be accepted through November 2.
