Closure of Historic Highway in Troutdale during Saturday auto event

East Historic Columbia River Highway will be closed between S Buxton Avenue and SE Kibling Street in downtown Troutdale on Saturday, September 19 from 8 am to 4 pm during the All Buick Car Show. Signs will direct through traffic to a short detour route. Interstate 84 is also an alternate route.

Highway Guardrails Need Upgrade, Says U.S. Safety Agency

U.S. highway guardrail systems made by Trinity Industries Inc. and Road Systems Inc. have "safety performance issues" in some real-world crash scenarios, the Federal Highway Administration said as it urged a national overhaul of standards to better protect American drivers. The regulator Friday released a report citing "performance limitations" of five guardrail products, three by Trinity and two by Road Systems.

Highway connector closed after car strike pole in Bay Area

The California Highway Patrol says a highway connector was closed after a car crashed against a utility pole and knocked it down. It says crews with Pacific Gas and Electric Co., CHP and Caltrans are working to in the area to fix the pole and re-open the highway connector.

U.S. Highway 287 now open, spill cleanup continues

The Texas Department of Transportation has reopened a section of U.S. Highway 287 near Memphis that was closed for nearly three days to clean up a hazardous chemical spill. TxDOT reopened the highway late Thursday after cleanup crews removed a truck, its contents and contaminated soils from the crash site, State troopers responded about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday to an overturned tractor-trailer that had spilled a chemical mixture of lead, calcium-zinc and Rea Tin 4435 onto the ground, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Chris Ray said.
