Liberty Global targets acceleration in cash flow growth

(Telecompaper) Cable operator Liberty Global reported a strong finish to 2015, with net additions of 344,000 revenue-generating units in the fourth quarter. Revenues were up 4 percent and operating cash flow 6 percent higher on an organic basis in Q4, led by Virgin Media in the UK and Unitymedia in Germany. CEO Mike Fries said the company saw a stronger second half of 2015 than the first six months, and Liberty Global expects the growth to improve further in 2016. The growth will be driven by the 'Liberty 3.0' plan, to enhance revenue and operating cash flow by focusing on B2B, mobile, network expansion and cost controls over the next three years. The company expects to deliver 5-7 percent organic OCF growth in Europe in 2016, excluding the Dutch business Ziggo, which is being merged with Vodafone Netherlands, and the recently acquired Belgian mobile operator Base. Over the next three years, operating cash flow is expected to grow at an organic rate of 7-9 percent.
Orange targets return to EBITDA growth in 2016

(Telecompaper) Orange stabilised its adjusted EBITDA in 2015 and said it aims for a return to growth in 2016. The company reported a result of EUR 12.43 billion for the year, up 0.1 percent on an organic basis and 1.9 percent higher on a reported basis. The figure was better than Orange's outlook for EBITDA of at least EUR 12.3 billion. Revenues were still down 0.1 percent on an organic basis to EUR 40.24 billion, amid declines in France, Spain and Poland. Net profit more than doubled, to EUR 2.96 billion from EUR 1.23 billion, thanks to lower taxes and results from the UK venture EE. Orange attributed the improved results to investments in networks, with capex up 9.3 percent to EUR 6.49 billion. The company also confirmed its annual dividend at EUR 0.60 per share and said it aims to pay the same amount next year. Orange said its talks with Bouyges Telecom an a potential merger in France are ongoing and will take several weeks yet to reach an agreement.

A Greenpeace video mimicking a Coca-Cola Amatil ad has targeted an industry-backed container deposit scheme that "will not solve our enormous litter problem," ahead of the NSW government's decision on a scheme within months.The video reveals that more than 40 million cans and bottles are littered in NSW every summer, and calls for support of a "recycling plan that works," in the form of a container deposit scheme. "Last year, Mr Baird committed to a world's best-practice container deposit recycling system by 2017.
