Airbus Helicopters said on Friday it is in talks with Indian companies including Mahindra and Mahindra, Reliance Industries and Tata Group to jointly make military helicopters, to comply with rules aimed at helping the local defence industry. The company, part of Airbus Group, is offering to build its light utility AS550 Fennec and the medium lift EC725 for India's armed forces, which are heavily dependent on an ageing fleet of Cheetah and Chetak helicopters.

Canadian National Railway plans to unilaterally modify some terms of its collective agreement with Unifor after talks with the union broke down on the weekend. CN president and CEO Claude Mongeau said in a statement Wednesday that the changes, a number of them unspecified but including a two per cent wage increase, will be implemented Friday.

CN Rail contract talks at impasse, strike vote likely

Protracted contract talks between Canadian National Railway Co and the union that represents 4,800 of its mechanical, clerical and intermodal staff are at an impasse, and the union says it is considering a strike vote. The Montreal-based company said in a statement on Wednesday that it plans to make unilateral changes by Feb. 20 to the labor accord that covers workers represented by the Unifor union, if the union does not agree to a new deal by that time.
