To support our Electronics Department, we are looking for a Design System Engineer Digital Electronics mf in electronics equipments development for European space programs Your Tasks Deriving from satellite mission requirements the subsequent data handling subsystems requirements, trade off analysis of critical dimensioning parameters and justification of choices. Preparation of subsystem and equipment specifications Requirements and architecture analysis at electronic function and electronics board level Analysis of compatibility of electrical interfaces between the different subsystem equipments, sensors, actuators etc. EMC analysis at system and subsystem level Requirements Specifications for the subcontracting of subsystems, equipments, electronic modules, electrical ground support equipments, on board software etc. Definition of verification strategy for subsystems and equipments. Definition of test equipment architecture Design of digital systems controller, FPGAs VHDL, state machines etc. Engineering and design documentation Preparation of technical proposals answering customer specifications. Defining engineering resources needed and planning for design and development Your Profile Electronic engineer equivalent to Master of Communications or Automation Engineering Electronics Design Engineering more than five years experience in a majority of the following specialties of Digital Design Microprocessor, FPGAs, ASICs, VHDL especially for image processing Experience in simulation tools Matlab, Modelsim etc. Experience in control technique SpecificationsRequirements Engineering and System Analyses Digital and analog electronics for camera systems FPGA design and verification with VHDL or Verilog Explicit Space Electronic Experience Knowledge of ECSS Space product assurance ASIC and FPGA development ECSS QST6002C FPGA System Engineering according to the ECSS document Programming languages e.g. C, Labview etc. Commissioning and test of electronic systems Systems engineering of electrical subsystems of satellites platforms, instruments, avionics systems etc. architectural design, conceptual design, trade off analysis between alternative solutions, evaluation of reference missions, and selection of system concepts Requirements engineering, derivation of subsystems and equipments needs and establishment of specifications for the development of the system major constituents. Interfaces engineering, interfaces analysis Data Handling Systems for space programs on board computers, communication busses, mass memory, space qualified microprocessors etc. Good knowledge of general specifications at system level for general electrical requirements, EMC requirements, mechanical and thermal interfaces and requirements, radiation environment etc. EEE Components selection Good knowledge on design methodologies for space application design documentation, design analysis etc. and tools e.g. PSpice, MathCad, Matlab, Modelsim etc. Knowledge in CAE DxDesigner Mentor Graphics will be appreciated. JOB DESCRIPTION EPSSG System Design Engineer Responsibilities Duties Tasks The activities for this consultancy will focus on the establishing and maintaining system design justifications, system design, tradeoffs, and system budgets. The activity requires one key person for the duration of the consultancy contract. Specific separate Instrument Functional Chain Teams IFCT are being established to ensure that each instrument chain is addressed in an endtoend fashion for Radiometric, Spectral and Geolocation aspects. The primary focus of this key person will be on system aspects not covered by the IFCT however participation in and support to the IFCTs is foreseen. The tasks and responsibilities of the key person to be undertaken during the EPSSG Phase B will typically include the following Analysis and justification of the system design. Provide input to the system design justification document, especially concerning end to end performance aspects. Identify all system areas that require a budget to be maintained. Perform an apportionment between Space and Ground segments and any other element involved Control and document all technical budgets in accordance with ECSS standards Monitor lower level technical specifications and budgets for compliance to system apportionment. Provide support to the IFCT and when needed ensure IFCT results are documented in a systematic manner. Provide support to general system engineering activities Preparation and maintenance of system technical specification ad hoc internal reviews system level formal reviews SRR, PDR Provide support to progress meetings Support IVV activities These activities will involve interactions with other EUMETSAT divisions. Travel within Europe, to the United States and possibly other parts of the world may have to be undertaken for certain tasks. Qualifications University degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent. Required knowledge At least 5 years of experience in the field of engineering of space andor ground system. Experience of large space systems space andor ground segment. Demonstrated capability to clearly document a system design and justification Demonstrated ability to analyse system level requirements and apportion to lower level elements. Experience of establishing and maintaining end to end budgets. Desirable Knowledge The following experience would be additional assets Experience in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites LEO. Our client is seeking for a Satellite System Design Engineer to be involved in supporting the phase B system engineering activities related to the specification, design and development of the satellite system. The support will focus on justification of the system design, establishing and maintaining system budgets Typical tasks will include analysis and justification of the system design,provide input to the system design justification document, especially concerning end to end performance aspects, identify all system areas that require a budget to be maintained, perform an apportionment between Space and Ground segments and any other element involved,control and document all technical budgets in accordance with ECSS standards,monitor lower level technical specifications and budgets for compliance to system apportionment,provide support to the IFCT and when needed ensure IFCT results are documented in a systematic manner,provide support to general system engineering activities preparation and maintenance of system technical specification,ad hoc internal reviews,system level formal reviews SRR, PDR, provide support to progress meetings, support IVV activities. The successful candidate should have experience of large space systems space andor ground segment and a demonstrated capability to clearly document a system design and justification along with a demonstrated ability to analyse system level requirements and apportion to lower level elements. Additional assets would be experience in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites LEO, DOORs and RAMS Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety. All candidates must have a University or similar degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent and be fluent in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of French would be an advantage.
