Now, a year later, Apple finally may have an app to go with its framework for integrating home management and monitoring devices with iOS. Whether Apple will announce the new app, called "Home," at this year's WWDC is unknown.

Consisting of large-format photodiode and 3 green LEDs with wavelength of 530 nm, Model SFH 7051 monitors heart rate by measuring volume of blood passing through blood vessels. Device produces optical output of 3 x 3.4 mW at current of 20 mA and voltage of 3.2 V. Low capacitance of 11 pF ensures short switching times and high measurement frequency. With photo-sensitive area of 1.7 mm², sensor is suited for use in fitness trackers, smart watches, and other wearables.

Railroad not liable for worker's heart attack death

CSX Transportation Inc. was not liable for the 2006 death of a conductor from a heart attack, a Florida appeals court has ruled, upholding a lower court ruling. Florida's First District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee on Monday ruled that the lower court was correct in granting a motion for directed verdict in the case after ruling that railroads have no duty to anticipate potential medical emergencies not caused by workplace hazards.
