Caledonia Investments sells stake in TGE Marine for A 78.7m cash

Caledonia Investments has entered into a binding agreement for the sale of its stake in TGE Marine to MES Germany Beteiligungs, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co, for 106.9m, or A 78.7m in cash. The investment vehicle said the payment for its 67.9% stake in TGE will be made in cash, together with a pre-transaction dividend received of 7.5m, delivering total proceeds of 114.5m, or A 84.1m.

Value investor Mohnish Pabrai , managing partner of Pabrai Investment Funds, has a history of investing in out-of-favor smaller companies, but, for the first quarter in more than a year, he neither bought a new stake nor added to an existing one in his portfolio. It has been noted, however, that he tends to maintain a concentrated portfolio, typically containing fewer than two dozen stakes.

Pearson sells 50% stake in the Economist Group

Pearson PLC has agreed to sell its 50% stake in the publisher of the Economist magazine to the unit's existing shareholders for GBP469 million in cash, the company's latest move to focus on education. Pearson on Wednesday said it would sell 27.8% of the Economist Group's ordinary shares and all of the B special shares to Exor SpA, the investment vehicle of Italy's Agnelli family, for GBP287 million.
