Job Brief Technical Supervision Management of technical requirements Introduction of improvements where necessary to design solutions and processes Investigation of any design changes, and implementing them in a controlled manner. Technical Enforcement Ensuring that appropriate design methodologies and standards are selected and followed, that the design complies with applicable legislation including safety, applicable nationalinternational and local standards and good engineering practice, and that company processes are adhered to. Technical Direction Directing development of the technical design, instigating design reviews and approving key design decisions and design documents Tasks accountabilities The SDA has responsibility for the certification and authorisation of all aspects of requirements devolvement, design, design proving, manufacture, integration and testing. The SDA has responsibility for preparation, updating and custody of the systemarchitectural specifications, drawings and other data associated with the design. The SDA has responsibility for preparing appropriate certificate of design and its submission for acceptance. The SDA has responsibility for design compliance with applicable product liability issues in liaison with designated company authorities. The SDA has responsibility for ensuring effective engineering processes are utilised in the execution of the project. Using appropriate tools and techniques to design and develop equipment to AIRBUS DEFENCE SPACE standards and specification requirements. To be responsible for their own time management with regard to project task milestones. Provide technical guidance in at least one major tool or technique used by AIRBUS DEFENCE SPACE. Able to use all disciplines required in designing the whole or part of a project as determined by project milestones and their team leader. Use experience to support the design and development of critical components where decisions may have a significant impact on project timescales. Required skills Essential Experience Must be capable of solving complex problems requiring expertise in numerous technical fields. Must be capable of owning the technical understanding of an entire design in multiple technical disciplines. Must be an experienced engineer, with a successful track record of leading complex softwarehardware product development, integration and qualification Must have experience of systems design implementation for data communications products in commercial or military environments. Must have experience of embedded software development utilising bespoke hardware. Must be familiar with process driven softwarehardware development Must have experience of the full project lifecycle.
