National Journal: Environmentalists need Mary Landrieu, but they don't love herand they're proving it with their checkbooks. Louisiana's Democratic senator and Republican Rep. Bill Cassidy are locked in a Bayou battle that will go a long way in determining whether Democrats can hold their imperiled Senate majority, a force that has proved an implacable bulwark against a steady stream of House Republican attacks on environmental regulations. But that hasn't convinced the environmental lobby's heavy hitters to cut...

John Kerry's inconsistent, incomplete stance on climate change
2014-02-22 17:35:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Salon: In Indonesia on Sunday, Secretary of State John Kerry boldly called for international action on climate change. He did not mince words when he called climate change perhaps the worlds most fearsome weapon of mass destruction. Sudan President Al-Bashir Hails India's "Supportive Stance"
2014-02-10 07:48:31| Sugar Industry News
Sudan President Omer Al-Bashir expressed his keenness to see the ties between Khartoum and New Delhi develop further during a meeting with India's Foreign Minister, Salman Khurshid on a visit to Sudan this week. The President said he appreciated India's positions in support of the Sudan in international fora. Sudan's Foreign Minister, Ali Karti, said Mr. Khurshid had assured the President that India will continue to support programs and projects to help Sudan in its fight against poverty. India is working in a number of different areas including sugar and electricity production and distribution as well as offering scholarships to Sudanese students. Mr. Khurshid arrived in Khartoum on Tuesday for a two day visit. His discussions with Sudan's Foreign Minister focused on trade as well as cooperation in agriculture and manufacturing. The value of trade between the two countries will reach nearly US$1billion at the end of this fiscal year. Mr. Khurshid noted India was an active partner in development projects in Sudan, especially in the sugar industry and the modernization of irrigation, and is funding of a thermal plant expected to produce about 500 megawatts of energy. It was also helping Sudan in livestock production, small industries development, microfinance and self-employment mechanisms. He said noted that the meetings of the joint committee on political consultation and of the Sudan-India Joint Ministerial Committee are to resume after a break of eight years.
