Tenure Track Faculty Position in Space Policy Law

The Department of Space Studies in the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences at the University of North Dakota invites applications for the tenure track position of assistantassociate professor in the field of space policy and law, to fill a vacancy created due to a retirement. A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in an appropriate field with a space policylaw specialty is required. An ability to teach space history, in addition to space law and policy, will be desirable. An established record of teaching, research, ability to guide students on research, and service will be considered favorably in evaluation. A broad insight into the interdisciplinary nature of space activities and significant ongoing contact or connections with the space community is highly desirable. A strong interest in, and or record of developing collaborative research projects with external funding, in those fields as they relate to use, developmental and exploration of space, is expected. The responsibilities include scholarly activities, guiding and mentoring graduate student research, teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses, and service. The percentage work load within each of these categories is negotiable. Exceptional candidates with experience may be considered for an appointment at associate professor level. The Department of Space Studies is a strongly interdisciplinary program featuring a world renowned M.S. degree in Space Studies, and an undergraduate minor. A Ph.D. program in Aerospace Sciences, in collaboration with the Department of Aviation, started in fall of 2012. In addition to its oncampus education program, the Department has a large online education program, with the student body both campus and online comprised mostly of highly motivated early and midcareer professionals seeking a graduate degree for professional advancement or personal interest. Approximately a third of the student body is composed of active duty military personnel and another third are currently employed by NASA or the aerospace industry. BIO urged EPA to correct flawed methodology in proposed rule for 2014 Renewable Fuel Standard. Agency unveiled proposed consent decree to settle lawsuits regarding EPA’s delays in taking action on 2014 and 2015 rules and will seek stakeholder comment, as required by Clean Air Act, before determining whether to sign decree and to submit it to court for approval. Agency also committed to re-propose volume requirements for 2014 that reflect volumes of renewable fuel that were actually used in 2014.
