We are involved in international unmanned and manned spacecraft programmes and in European international research programmes. Tasks and Responsibilities The Knowledge Management Team at Space Applications Services realises cuttingedge research and commercial solutions development in knowledge representation and natural language processing. The successful candidate will work on tasks within two international research projects. One of the projects is aiming at research and development of long term data preservation technology and solutions. Specifically, you will analyse the needs for preservation of space science data from experiments performed on board the International Space Station, establish the solution architecture and implement a technology demonstrator. The second project goal is to support law enforcement agencies to better understand the data available for them by using visual analytics. In this project you will develop components that facilitate the work of police analysts. You will be working together with a small, downtoearth team with high standards and competent members. The work will be performed at our offices in Zaventem Brussels with some international travel from time to time, for project reviews, installation at the customers site, etc. Qualifications and Experience You must have the following qualification to apply A computer science university degree or equivalent, and have at least 2 years of working experience. Excellent command of spoken and written English. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus. Development in LinuxUnix environments. Java and JVM technologies. Knowledge of any of the following techniques is desirable, but not required Natural language processing. NoSQL technologies. Knowledge engineering, semantics and ontology authoring. Vodafone UK CEO favourite for top role at Rogers - report

(Telecompaper) Vodafone UK CEO Guy Laurence has emerged as the front-runner to replace Nadir Mohamed as CEO of Canadian operator Rogers Communications, reports The Times newspaper. Mohamed is due to retire in January 2014 after five years as Rogers CEO, with Laurence the company's preferred candidate to replace him. Insiders have suggested that Jeroen Hoencamp, Vodafone UK Enterprise Director and former CEO of Vodafone Ireland, could replace him as CEO of Vodafone UK. In 2012, Vodafone UK appointed Rogers executive Kevin Salvadori as its chief technology officer (CTO). Vodafone declined to comment on the report.
