Burlington industrial tech company acquired by billion-dollar tech giant Jabil

Kasalis, a Burlington-based industrial technology firm, has been acquired by publicly-traded electronic products firm Jabil Circuit Inc. , headquartered in Florida. The Kasalis office in Burlington will remain open and be expanded as part of the acquisition, growing headcount from 27 to about 40 within the next few months, said Irvin Stein , senior global business units director of Jabil Optics, the division of Jabil that Kasalis will now fall under.

While Nike founder Phil Knight and OHSU scientist Dr. Brian Druker were in New York doing Good Morning America Thursday morning, lead fundraisers for the Knight Cancer Challenge held their big announcement in the lobby of the Center for Health and Wellness at Oregon Health and Science University. Normally media-shy Knight was explaining how he and his wife Penny were inspired in 2013 to promise $500 million for early cancer detection after meeting a mom whose child was saved by Druker's leukemia drug Gleevec.

This billion-dollar auto company is taking a bet on a Cambridge startup

Openbay , the Cambridge-based startup that offers an online service and mobile app for booking auto repair, has struck a deal with Tennessee-based automotive parts giant AutoZone. The six-month pilot program will allow Boston-area customers of AutoZone to comparison shop for and book automotive repair and maintenance services with a network of local professionals directly through AutoZone's website, according to a release.
