ASTM International announced that it has been accredited by Standards Council of Canada (SCC), signifying that ASTM meets all requirements for consensus standards development, set by SCC, which mirror principles of World Trade Organization: transparency, openness, consensus, and relevance. SCC audit was conducted November 6–8, 2012. In tandem with SCC's accreditation, ASTM established new ASTM International Canada Office in Ottawa that is to be led by Diane Thompson. ANSI and IREC announced that ANSI-IREC program for accreditation of renewable energy and energy efficiency certificate programs has completed its pilot phase and is now accepting general applications. Program evaluates certificate-awarding schools, colleges, and other institutions against requirements for equipment, curriculum, facilities, administration, and personnel set forth in IREC Standard 14732.
