The majority of 3G and 4G USB modems offered by mobile operators to their customers have vulnerabilities in their Web-based management interfaces that could be exploited remotely when users visit compromised websites. The flaws could allow attackers to steal or manipulate text messages, contacts, Wi-Fi settings or the DNS configuration of affected modems, but also to execute arbitrary commands on their underlying operating systems.

Law Enforcement discredits man's claims of hacking plane

U.S. law enforcement officials have no credible evidence that commercial airplane cockpits have been hacked from passengers' seats, contradicting a man who claims he did just that. While most airplanes can't be hacked because flight-control computers are separate from the connections passengers use, newer aircraft have more interconnections, the U.S. Government Accountability Office said an April 14 report.

Airline security stops researcher who tweeted hacking joke

United Airlines stopped a prominent security researcher from boarding a California-bound flight late Saturday, following a social media post by the researcher days earlier suggesting the airline's onboard systems could be hacked. The researcher, Chris Roberts , attempted to board a United flight from Colorado to San Francisco to speak at a major security conference there this week, but was stopped by the airline's corporate security at the gate.
