Turkey's apparel exports surged in the first quarter of the year, boosted by a new fall in the lira and the need for European buyers to limit transportation costs and uncertainties. Our statistical series provide a comprehensive view of Turkey's clothing exports in the first quarter of 2017-21, including volume, value, and unit value changes per destination and HS 4-digit product category. US apparel imports surged in April from their low level of the Covid crisis last year. Shipments fell in volume terms from two years earlier. China's rebound in the first quarter has slowed down in April. Our report covers US apparel imports every month, comparing shipments from most origins in the last month and the year-to-date. Import data are available in volume, value, and unit value terms. Historical trends are analyzed over the 2000-2021 period, including cotton vs. man-made fiber apparel, China vs. Vietnam, and the Rest of the World (RoW).

US apparel imports from China rebounded in the first quarter, especially in volume terms. Although recovering, China's share of the US apparel import market stays far lower than a few years ago, with significantly different results depending on product categories. Our statistical report compares US apparel imports from China with shipments from the Rest of the World (RoW) for every category of products, in volume, value, and unit value terms. Historical data cover the first quarters in the past five years, from 2016-2021.
