Rackspace posts sharply higher profit

Cloud-computing company Rackspace Hosting Inc. posted a 77.5% increase in fourth-quarter profit but predicts first-quarter revenue below Wall Street estimates as currency issues restrain its growth rate. The company predicts growth of 2% to 3.5% on a constant-currency basis, and expects a currency "headwind" of 100 basis points.

Analog Devices posts higher profit, dividend

Analog Devices Inc. said its profit rose 17% for the January quarter as the chip maker said order rates improved in the last month of the period, particularly in automotive and industrial markets. For the current quarter, the company expects earnings excluding items of 70 cents to 74 cents a share on revenue of $810 million to $830 million, compared with the Wall Street consensus of 69 cents a share and revenue of $807 million, according to Thomson Reuters.

CSX Posts Higher Quarterly Profit

CSX Corp , the third-largest U.S. railroad, on Tuesday reported a higher quarterly profit that was in line with analyst expectations and said it expected a strong increase in its freight business and double-digit earnings growth during 2015. CSX's fourth-quarter profit rose on the back of an 11 percent rise in coal shipments, a 5 increase in intermodal and 5 percent for its "merchandise" shipments that include agricultural, chemical and construction products.

Brown-Forman posts slightly higher net income

Spirits maker Brown-Forman Corp. said Wednesday its second-quarter net income rose slightly because of sales growth for its flagship Jack Daniel's brand along with its tequilas and pricier premium whiskeys, offsetting declines for some of its other staples. Underlying net sales for the entire Jack Daniel's brand grew by 7 percent in the first half of the company's fiscal year, led by double-digit growth for Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey thanks to the product's expansion to new overseas markets.
