Radio Navigation equipments covering space applications. The work includes study, design, analysis and testing of navigationpositioningrangingmonitoring technology and receiver for space. Radio Navigation space applications performed at ESA include scientific applications atmospheric sounding, oceanic observation, formation flying, rendezvous and attitude determination. Radio Navigation equipments for terrestrial applications. The work includes study, design, analysis and testing of navigation receiverstechnology for terrestrial applications and local augmentation. Radio Navigation terrestrial applications performed at ESA are those related with high performance based on high accuracy e.g. geodesy andor high integrity e.g. civil aviation, maritime. Radio Navigation signals and signal processing. The work includes study, design, analysis and testing of signal and signal processing techniques including toolsequipment development and procurement. It encompasses signal structure, modulations, data dissemination, techniques for error correction, synchronisation, multipath mitigation and estimation, interference mitigation, cancellation, encryption, authentication, etc. Radio Navigation Laboratory equipments. The work includes definition procurement design, testing, usage of Radio Navigation equipment in support to Radio Navigation experiments and test campaigns. The duties of this post will include in particular Support the GALILEO System Services of the Galileo Project in the implementation and coordination of the activities related with the monitoring and analysis of the performance of the various services offered through the Galileo SignalinSpace Definition of SIS Service Validation Plans defining the tools and the processes to be used to measure the SIS Service Key Performance Indicators KPIs Coordination of the activities required to monitor continuously the SIS Service Performance KPIs. Preparation of regular status reports Analysis of the impact on the service during the deployment of the system and propose priorities on the Operational Plans to minimize SIS outages Coordination of the developments of the tools to be used for the measurement of SIS service KPIs and the analysis of Galileo service performance in general Comparative analysis of GNSS SIS performance. Profile PhD or Msc Engineering from a recognized Institution of secondary studies University, Ecole Suprieure, or equivalent in the fields of Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Physics or Aerospace Engineering. Specific knowledge in the design and testing of Radio Navigation systems and equipment. They shall have strong knowledge on the design of satellite navigation systems, ranging and positioning techniques, RF, signal processing techniques, and digital navigation receivers. The specialist shall in particular have several years experience relevant with the GNSS1 and GALILEO systems and equipment and have and good knowledge of Radio Navigation simulation and testing systems. DUTIES The postholder will be deployed in the Radio Navigation Systems and Techniques Section and will be responsible for radio navigation systems, techniques, equipment for ground and space applications. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters university degree or equivalent qualification in telecommunications or electrical engineering, with a good background in satellite radio navigation systems GPS, EGNOS, GALILEO as well as several years working experience in these fields. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team objectives. In addition, they should have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest for innovative technologies. Applicants shall be eligible for security clearance from their National Authority. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset.
