Cotton prices have been weaker than expected in the past seven days on the international market, although hurricane Michael has devastated cotton fields in a series of US Southern states. Demand for US cotton is depressed by US-China trade war with Chinese buyers cancelling large orders. Cotton prices have sharply rebounded in Pakistan over a new depreciation of the rupee whereas prices are also staying strong in India. Our weekly cotton report covers the international futures market in New York and China, and the physical indicator "A Index". Domestic cotton prices in China, India and Pakistan are also reviewed through a large number of tables and charts. All data are available for download.

H&M named world's biggest user of sustainable cotton

Swedish clothing giant Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) has been named the world's biggest user of sustainable cotton and man-made cellulosic materials in a move the company says takes it one step closer to its goal of using only recycled or other sustainably sourced materials by 2030.
