City planners will consider next week whether to approve plans for an expansion of more than 40,000 square feet at Renzi Foodservice Made Easy in the City Center Industrial Park. On Tuesday, the city Planning Board will review the site plans for the project, 38,819 square feet in additional warehousing space at the back of the building and a 1,572-square-foot addition for office space.

Four Center City Council members met with County Administrator Bruce Messelt Monday night this week to see if a deal can be worked out to create a new Center City Hall and public works garage at the Heartland Express transit facility the county is vacating, next to Bayview Senior Apartments. The city council didn't take an official vote on buying the site, with member Donna Higgins absent.

No One Injured After Train, Pickup Collide In Union City

According to Union City police, at about 8:25 a.m., officers responded to the report of a collision involving a train and a pickup just west of the intersection of S.W. 44th and U.S. 81. Officers learned that a white Chevrolet pick-up truck had crossed over the tracks just as a Union Pacific locomotive pulling a 107 car load was approaching from the north. The train impacted the truck just behind the passenger compartment, causing the vehicle to rotate westbound toward a ditch.
