Post Product Assurance and Safety Engineer This positionis classified A2A4 on the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. This position forms part of ESAs Advance Recruitment Scheme which is established to provide appropriate staffing resources when requirements materialise. Appointments are therefore made for an initial duration of two years upon which the selected candidate may be appointed to a permanent post in the Agency. Location ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands Description Product Assurance and Safety PAS Engineer in the Quality Assurance and Management Section, Quality, Dependability and PA Support Division, Product Assurance and Safety Department, Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality. The Quality Assurance and Management Section provides functional support to ESA projects and is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of product and quality assurance expertise and standards. The Section carries out technological research RD in the fields of product and quality assurance management, techniques, methodologies and tools. It also collaborates in standardization and training activities. Duties Reporting to the Head of Section and within the technical fields described above, the main tasks and responsibilities of the post holder will include providing expert support to ESA projects, programmes and general studies in the field of product assurance and quality management preparing and implementing general and projectspecific programmatic and technical requirements based on the applicable product and quality assurance baseline supporting the evaluation of contractors documentation and efforts proposed for the execution of product and quality assurance programmes supporting the monitoring of the contractors product and quality assurance programme execution to ensure compliance with the requirements established planning, performing and following up quality audits of contractors and their inhouse standards for compliance with baselined technical requirements supporting the management of certification and verification schemes established in relation to Agency standards and specifications managing the design, development and maintenance of product and quality assurance tools, e.g. ESA alerts, internal problem notification, nonconformance management systems defining, initiating and managing RD activities in the fields of product and quality assurance requirements, techniques, methodologies and tools covering both long and shortterm needs supporting the establishment and implementation of standards and best practices in the field of product and quality assurance liaising with designated organisations for the coordination of product and quality assurance support coordinating the development and maintenance of product assurance and safety information management systems monitoring applicable scientific and technological trends and maintaining a stateoftheart expertise contributing to the dissemination of the results of the activities performed and the transfer of knowledge across the Agency. Duties may also include supporting other activities within the post holders field of competence. Technical competencies General background and specific experience in the technical domains covered by the position Understanding of related technologies, RD trends and the industrial landscape Experience with the application of SW product assurance tools and methods Knowledge in analysis and monitoring of industrial activities impacting geographical and industrial return Experience with Space Quality Standards and their preparation and implementation Experience with the design, development and application of relevant tools and methods Behavioural competencies Communication Teamwork Customer Focus Problem Solving Results Orientation Planning Organisation Education A Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or technical sciences is required. Additional requirements Knowledge of hardware andor software configuration management. Experience working with quality and information managment systems. Candidates must be eligible for security clearance by their national security administration. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. The Agency may require applicants to undergo selection tests.
