For our activities in ECSAT, we are currently looking for a Telecommunications Systems Engineer. Tasks and Responsibilities You will support the Office for Institutional and European Programmes by performing the following tasks Assessment of new concepts and techniques to be applied to next generation institutional e.g. security related satellite communication systems, for both space and ground segment Monitoring and assessing the need and potential for future satellite telecommunication missions and systems in the aforementioned domain Support the initiating and managing prospective studies on new mission concepts and architectures Analysis, definition, initiation and management of industrial activities associated to new projects in the telecommunication satellite system domain Analysing and preparing proposals for new telecommunication satellite telecommunication projects, in particular in the area of institutional i.e. security related programmes, including the definition of mission requirements Definition of all the elements endtoend associated to the missionsystem architecture of new telecommunication satellite projectssystems Assessment and analysis of the best concepts and technical solutions to meet the defined mission and system requirements Assessment of the potential and benefits at system level of new techniques technologies. Perform tradeoffs between different conceptstechnologies to optimize the endtoend system Support activities related to system studies and Phases A of new telecommunication satellite projects Preparation of inputs to status internal reports Acquire and maintain endtoend system engineering expertise for the development of new telecommunication satellite system concepts and in new ESA ProjectsProgrammes. Requirements You should bring a University degree or equivalent qualification in Physics or Engineering, at least 4 years of professional experience and the following significant demonstrated industrial experience in satellite telecommunication systems design, including substantial experience in satellite payload and or satellite telecommunication endtoend system engineering specific experience in the area of secureinstitutional satellite communications systems, which is considered a valuable asset. Furthermore you should also be able to demonstrate excellent organisation and communications skills technical excellence resourcefulness selfmotivation ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships ability to document their work and to produce high quality documents willingness to travel, when required ability to work in an international working environment and be fluent in English a high level of written and spoken English is essential. Telecommunications Satellite System Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the team, you will have the following responsibilities The Platform Engineer will be responsible for the daytoda monitoring of the design and integration of the spacecraft platform The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the platform is designed, manufactured, assembled and tested and performs in accordance with the requirements of the contract Performassess tradeoffs of payload architecture and interfaces and platform operational requirements Participate in platform testing Support operations activities including procedure review, database preparation, and during LEOP and inorbit operations. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Several years of experience in platform system engineering including geostationary communication platform system design and implementation Knowledge of the design, integration and testing issues associated with geostationary communication platforms Experience of working directly with prime contractors Periodic travel to the manufacturer facilities will also be required Willingness to travel overseas Fluency in English is mandatory.
