NEMA commends U.S. Senate's final passage of compromise legislation reauthorizing trade functions of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). "While it does not go as far as it might have," said NEMA President and CEO Kevin J. Cosgriff, "the final act is nonetheless an important step forward on issues important to our companies and consumers." Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015 (H.R. 644) passed Senate on February 11 by vote of 75–20.

Announcement from Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) Scientific Collaboration confirming detection of gravitational waves was lauded by The Optical Society CEO Elizabeth Rogan. After citing "groundbreaking" work of radio astronomers and 1978 Noble Prize winners Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson’s team at Bell Labs, Rogan congratulated LIGO Scientific Collaboration "on this remarkable achievement of gravitational wave astronomy."

According to statement by John Mitchell, IPC President and CEO, IPC commends the U.S. Senate for passing the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act (S. 697). IPC appreciates the bipartisan leadership of U.S. Senators David Vitter (R-LA) and Tom Udall (D-NM) for sponsoring this legislation to reform the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976, which needs to be modernized to reflect 21st century realities and to help promote innovation and growth.

America's electrical and medical imaging industries commend Congress for passing a $1.1 trillion omnibus legislative package that funds the government through September 30, 2016. Bill includes 2-year deferral of 2.3% medical device excise tax, extension of the energy-efficient commercial building tax deduction through 2016, and legislation that will allow businesses to voluntarily share information about cybersecurity attacks with federal agencies and each other in secure manner.
