General tasks to be performed Evaluation of proposals for technology RD activities on their technical merit, consistency and defined priorities. Preparation of the planning of the TRP, GSTP, NMS and PECS programmeinitiative and of inflight demo opportunities in close collaboration with representatives from technical support and programme departments. Monitoring of the implementation of the programmes and of activities, as appropriate, and provision of management information as required. This also to pursue consistency with the Technology EndtoEnd process and procedures. Monitoring of the consistency of the various ProgrammesInitiatives with respect to other ongoing technology programmes and defined industrial policy objectives. Followup and monitoring the conduction of concerted technology actions, mainly linked to TRP and GSTP programmes. Evaluation of the results and preparation of periodic overview publications. Operation of the associated management information tools and system databases. Support to the Harmonization process implementation and monitoring also through the utilisation of dedicated IT tools, and contributing to their continuous improvement. Supporting the initial evaluation of the technical and financial possibilities to transfer andor commercialize technologies identified in dedicated work packages relating to commercial evaluation as an outcome of ESA technology development contracts Specific tasks to be performed Supporting other technology tasks of the Division and Department such as the endtoend process for technology development. To successfully perform the above mentioned tasks, the following background experience is required A PhD or Master degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline. A background in a wide range of technologies relevant to space and experience in space projects and technology development Ability to work and communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary technical environment. Easy contact with personnel and well balanced autonomy in the execution of the requested tasks Rigor, commitment and reliability in the execution of the assigned tasks and capacity to identify priority actions. Familiarity with electronics office automation tools e.g. Microsoft Office suite, including Access and techniques, electronic mailing, customised databases Knowledge of web tools and familiarity with ESA corporate tools is an advantage. Familiarity and experience in the R D area and technology development processes, in particular in the space sector, is a distinctive advantage. Knowledge of ProgrammeProject management and control technique, method and tools. Autonomy, authority and ability to interface with ESA staff in high level positions. Demonstrated ability to analyse and synthesise complex information. Good verbal and written communications. Rigor, commitment and reliability in the execution of the assigned tasks. Proactive attitude to solving problems, identify priority actions and to handle high workload. DUTIES Under the responsibility of the FLPP Technology Project Manager, the Technology Project Engineer will contribute to the identification and selection of a wide range of cuttingedge technologies for future launchers, mainly pertaining to electricalelectromechanical systems, avionics, navigation and control. The Technology Project Engineer will be assisted by project control staff and supported by engineers from the Technical and Quality Management Directorate and from national organisations under the FLPP Technical Assistance scheme. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering field, together with a technical background in avionics, mechatronics or system engineering, along with some experience of industry and a good knowledge of the European space transportation industry. Candidates should be familiar with electricalelectromechanical systems, avionics, onboard flight computers, GNC systems, and mission and vehicle management systems. Organisational skills, team spirit and the ability to work autonomously in an international environment are assets. The working languages of the Agency are English and French.
