A television news station in New York is suing the New York Police Department for charging $36,000 to view police body camera footage. Citing the state's Freedom of Information Law , reporter Courtney Gross with cable news station NY1 requested in April that the department provide her with 190 hours of unedited body camera footage.

The NYPD took steps Friday to bring private security officials up to speed on three deadly attacks overseas that a top city police official said appear to be part of a disturbing increase in terror-related activity. John Miller, NYPD deputy commissioner of intelligence and counterterrorism, said though no specific intelligence from Friday's attacks was related to New York City, they follow six cases in the metropolitan area in which people have been arrested after being accused of being in various stages of taking action in the Islamic State's name.

YONKERS, N.Y. - A suspended NYPD psychologist from Yonkers accused of trying to kill her husband in a 2013 shooting pleaded not guilty during her arraignment on a formal indictment Thursday. Emily Dearden, a senior psychologist with the department, faces charges of attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm in a shooting that wounded her developer husband, Kenneth Dearden.
