MTG Monitoring Control Subsystem Engineer

Job description The key person will support the Geostationary Orbit GEO Division providing support to the Mission Operations System team. The tasks of the key person will typically include Support to the maintenance of MTG Mission Operations Facility requirement specification in the area of Monitoring Control System and liaison with the operational users for the definition of the requirements baseline Follow up the MTG Monitoring and Control Subsystem MCS procurement to make sure that the delivery fits the intended purpose Support the MTG ground segment team, the Mission Operations Facility manager and the ground segment manager Interact with suppliers and partner organisations Participation to the Reviews for the Monitoring and Control Subsystem and interfacing facilities Participation test conduction and or witnessing to MTG Monitoring and Control Subsystem facilities testing and related activities on facility as well as on system level Analysis of test results and test reports on facility as well as on system level in particular with respect to their suitability for requirement verification and validation Track the MTG Monitoring and Control Subsystem test results, test reports and requirement verification status Installation of the MTG Monitoring and Control Subsystem at EUMETSAT, while fulfilling the configuration management requirements Verification of correct facility installation Monitor and, where applicable, steer the lifecycle for all related anomaly reports ARs nonconformance reports NCRs Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary Preparation of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings Analysis, review and generation of any relevant MTG documentation Maintenance i.e. mainly configuration and installation of the SCOS 2000 MCS demonstrator installed for familiarisation of the operations preparation team with the Mission Operations Facility MCS. Requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the key person shall have a demonstrated experience of spacecraft andor ground segment procurement. The key person shall have a goal oriented attitude with a good level of communication skills enabling working in a highly flexible integrated team. Furthermore, the key person shall have, as a prerequisite a demonstrated experience of five years in the following Mission Control Subsystem specifications development and or procurement within a space system In depth knowledge of MICONYS SCOS 2000, FARC, PARC, etc. based Monitoring and Control Subsystems The ECSS Packet Utilization PUS and CCSDS SLE Standard TM TC Database design, implementation and testing based on DABYS, mysql MariaDB SCOS 2000 based onboard software function AIV related activities test procedure generation, requirements verification and validation Anomaly reports ARs nonconformance reports NCRs handling, investigation and discussion with clients as well as the supplier Eclipse RCP RAP Java, C and C GIT Version Control software UNIX operating system usage Fluency in English.

Engineering activities analysis of the porting of some subsystems to stateoftheart technologies, tradeoff studies of various technologies, software design of the technical solutions as following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. Maintenance of test plan and test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test plan and related test procedures at software level and at level. Support and development of the verification infrastructure development andor procurement of scripts tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Analysis and implementation of mechanisms or tools allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the application software. Coordination of the production of new software releases or patches, delivery acceptance and installation onsite. This activity includes the technical coordination of the production by an external contractor of new releases or patches of the application software, liaison with the EUMETSAT operational users, participation in technical reviews, participation in factory at contractor premises acceptance testing campaigns and coordination of the installation of the releases or patches onsite at EUMETSAT. Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes preparation of test data, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, analysis of results and troubleshooting of problems. Documentation generation and updates of technical documents. Technical Assessment and Review acting as technical experts heshe will support the coordination, assessment and review process for engineering artefacts and technical documentation produced in the scope of maintenance activities. User Support Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. Ensure if specifically required operations continuity during critical periods by provision of oncall services and software support to operations. PROFILE In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of software applications requirements definition, design, implementation, verification and maintenance. The key person shall have skills and experience in the following mandatory areas Software Engineering Maintenance Skills Experience minimum 5 years in the full cycle of development and maintenance of software application following formal software engineering processes Experience minimum 5 years definition of software requirements, architectural design, implementation and maintenance of 247 applications based on java technologies within web based deployment Experience minimum 3 years in IVV integration, verification and validation activities following formal engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, system and subsystem integration, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and anomaly tracking. Software Technologies Skills Experience minimum 3 years in designing and implementing backend software applications using Servlet containers e.g. Tomcat, JBoss and Java programming languages for UNIXLinux operating systems Experience minimum 3 years in designing and implement web client applications using GWT and HTML 5 technologies javascript, CSS, HTML and javascript frameworks Experience minimum 2 years in designing and implementing applications based on Messaging Oriented Middleware and using ActiveMQ andor ZeroMQ as message brokers Experience minimum 3 years in designing and developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and experience with data model design for RDBMS. It would be a distinct advantage for the key person to have knowledge andor experience with some of the following Maintenance Technical Management Skills Experience in being the technical point of contact for contractors working at offsite premises and responsible for application software evolution and maintenance. XML processing schema design, validation, parser libraries, transformation XSLT and XPath. Experience using tools for the automation of software testing. Software Technology Skills Experience in using Unified Modelling Language UML for software design. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French.
