Clothes Dryers earn EPA's Energy Star label.

EPA announced that Energy Star certified clothes dryers are now available nationwide. About 45 models of dryers earning Energy Star label, including Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, LG, and Safemate, are at least 20% more efficient and available at prices comparable to standard dryers. If all residential clothes dryers sold in U.S. were Energy Star certified, Americans could save $1.5 billion/year in utility costs and prevent GHG emissions equal to electricity use from more than 1.3 million homes.

TransCanada's chief executive says suggestions that the environmental impacts of the Keystone XL pipeline be revisited in light of lower crude prices is merely a tactic to delay the project. Russ Girling says demand for oil will continue to grow over the coming years, and that volatile crude prices do not mitigate the need for pipelines to transport that oil.
