For our Department of Guidance, Navigation and Control Systems at the Institute of Space Systems in Bremen we wish to recruit for the Electronics Development, Test, and Verification of Guidance, Navigation and Control Systems for Space Applications An Engineer in the Field of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Automation Technology, Information and Communication Technology, or similar Your Mission The Institute of Space Systems in Bremen designs and analyzes future spacecraft and space missions launchers, orbital and exploration systems, and satellites, and assesses them with regard to their technical performance and cost. It applies stateoftheart methods of multidisciplinary engineering in system design and analysis for example, a computerized system for concurrent design. The Guidance, Navigation and Control Systems Department focuses on the capability to analyze, design, develop, implement, simulate, test, and verify attitude and orbit control systems AOCS guidance, navigation, and control GNC systems for space applications and their components. This involves a range of disciplines, including requirements management, systems engineering, algorithm development, software implementation, systems analysissimulationverification, and hardwareintheloop testing. The GNC Systems Department is also conducting research and development of promising and strategic technologies for AOCS and GNC systems. The GNC Systems Department is involved into the Mission to the Moon of PTScientists, the first European Moon landing mission, as an official partner. The mission objective is to be the first private company to safely land a spacecraft on the Moon, to explore the area around the Apollo 17 landing site with two rovers, and to send pictures and videos down to Earth. In the frame of this project, the GNC Systems Department leads the development of the GNC subsystem as scientific partner. The work comprises the development of optical navigation technologies, the controller synthesis for descent and soft landing, the optimization of the landing trajectory as well as the comprehensive verification of all associated elements. Within this context, we are looking for a scientific staff member to conduct the following tasks within the GNC Appliances Research Group Specification, selection, procurement, and incoming inspection of electric and electronic components for GNC systems Inspection, startup, and check of electronic components and assemblies Planning, fabrication, test, and integration of cable harness and connectors in all development phases Integration of components and systems, support of systemlevel AIVAIT processes Design and further development of electronic circuitries and PCB designs with Altium Designer Fabrication of prototypes and support of fabrication of flight hardware Support for the development and operation of measurement, experimental, or simulation setups Production, technical review, and auditing of scientific and technical documentation Derivation and monitoring of requirements for the development processes Documentation, presentation, and publication of results Supervision of student internships, project and semester reports, and theses Commitment to group activities such as maintenance and development of laboratories, development and improvement of procedures, knowledge management, or acquisition of external funding Your Qualifications Required Successfully completed university degree on masters level or equivalent according to 7 II Tarifvertrag ber die Entgeltordnung des Bundes TV EntgO Bund in the domain of electrical engineering, electronics, automation technology, information and communication technology, or similar Knowledge about handling, integration, inspection, and verification of electronic components and assemblies using the stateoftheart measurement technology Practical experience with manufacturing and testing of electronic assemblies and cable harness Experience with the creation of schematics and PCB designs with Altium Designer, CadSoft EAGLE, or similar Fluent in written and spoken English, ideally with work experience abroad Conformance with the personal requirements for handling of export controlled goods and information according to German, European and American export control laws Willingness to domestic and international travels on official business Desired Knowledge and Experiences Development of technical systems for space applications according to spacetypical norms and standards e.g. ECSS Training andor certifications in the following areas Manual soldering of highreliability electrical connections e.g. according to ECSSQST7008 Repair and modification of electronic assemblies e.g. according to ECSSQST7028 Highreliability soldering for surfacemount and mixed technology e.g. according to ECSSQST7038 Solderfree highreliability connection technologies like crimpwirewrap connections e.g. according to ECSSQST7026, ECSSQST7030 Experience with version control systems e.g. Git, Subversion Practical experience with writing scientific and technical documents with LaTeX Scientific publications articles in peerreviewed journals, conference contributions, etc. Supervision of student seminar papers and theses Mastery of written and spoken German is an advantage Experience and successes with acquisition of external funding Your Benefits Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development. We want to expand our Test and Verification Department to support the validationverification and test of both existing and new products in the fields identified above. We therefore have a position in our organization for a Test and Verification Engineer. The Test and Verification Engineer will join the team responsible for the integration, verification and test of our products including the development of the test documentation and test environments required for hardware module, software module, unit and Factory Acceptance Test. The main tasks of the candidate will be Preparing test specifications based on inputs and interaction with HWSW design engineers translation of User Requirements to Test Requirements. Supporting in the definition of the test environments required to maximise test coverage whilst minimising test time. Preparation, integration and validation of automated test scripts, environments, e.g. NI TestStandLabview, Matlab, Python, etc. Syslog and SNMP. Documenting test environments and test results reporting. Performing engineering level, qualification and acceptance tests on Engineering, Qualification and Production models. Supporting during formal customer reviews e.g. TRR, PTR, DRB, etc preparation and participation. The candidates qualifications and experience should match those listed below Educated in Electronics Engineering ideally degree level. 2 years of experience within the field of verification and test of hitech electronic products. Handson experience with standard Electronic Test Measurement Equipment, such as Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analysers, FunctionArbitrary Waveform Generators. Experience in developing and maintaining automated test environments would be an advantage. Understanding of RF systems would be an advantage. Proficiency in MS Office suite. Good team worker, proactive, handson, engaged, takes full responsibility for hisher engineering activities. Good verbal and written communication skills in international project teams.
