Two new standards developed by ASTM International Committee E56 on Nanotechnology will assist various users in aspects of nanomaterial measurement: ASTM E2834, Guide for Measurement of Particle Size Distribution of Nanomaterials in Suspension by Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA), and ASTM E2859, Guide for Size Measurement of Nanoparticles Using Atomic Force Microscopy. ASTM International announced that it has been accredited by Standards Council of Canada (SCC), signifying that ASTM meets all requirements for consensus standards development, set by SCC, which mirror principles of World Trade Organization: transparency, openness, consensus, and relevance. SCC audit was conducted November 6–8, 2012. In tandem with SCC's accreditation, ASTM established new ASTM International Canada Office in Ottawa that is to be led by Diane Thompson.
