Overview The candidate shall provide engineering support to ESA project manager for system and mechanical aspects related to the Columbus infrastructure sustainability and evolution items as described below. This will include daytoday monitoring of the activities of the Industrial Contractors and review of technical documentation. Specific Work Package tasks will be Support the establishment of the baseline for new items, from requirements up to and including the end item definition. Review and approval of Industry Specification level for equipment of the ISS Columbus module, and for postISS elements as required by hierarchical superiors. Monitor industrial activities for the procurementdevelopment and integration, test, verification of new or recurrent Columbus System equipment from structural, mechanicalthermal and configuration system aspects. Monitor industrial activities for the procurementdevelopment of the Columbus Terminal hosting platform in coordination with the other involved disciplines ExtraVehicular Activities, Human Factor, Thermal Support the organisation and conduct of project reviews for system, structural, mechanical, budgets and configuration aspects. Support the resolution of anomalies from ground and onorbit activities in the system field. Support Engineering Control boards, MRBs, TRRPTRs, VCB in the system and mechanical area. Support the evaluation of Change Requests, Waivers and PIRNs in the system and mechanical area. Other duties within the post holders area of competence as may be required by the hierarchical superiors in support of their activities. Specific qualification requirements University degree preferably Masters in Engineering. A minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience post Degree. A good experience and knowledge of structuralmechanicalconfiguration design, development, testing and verification of requirements for Human Spaceflight hardware. A good knowledge of implications at system level of structuralmechanicalconfiguration aspects. Ability to effectively work in a team environment with other ESA organisations like Columbus Operations Division, and Technical Directorate and with Industry and to follow a proactive attitude to solving problems and also to work independently. Ability to work and communicate effectively in English. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands. Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed onsite at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES In the context of the ISS Exploitation programme, ESA has setup the ERASMUS Support Facility ESF which includes support capabilities to operations MSO, ERA, GS operations coordination room, Public Relations interface and the security infrastructure PKI, Secured DMS, etc.. Under the supervision of the Head of the Columbus Ground Segment Maintenance and Operations Section, the successful candidate will be required to fulfil the following tasks Maintenance and troubleshooting of ESF capabilities, in relation with relevant external procurements organizations. The improvement of the level of service is one of the goals of this task. In the context of the MPCC ground node and Class3 payloads network based on the internet protocol, the successful candidate shall, in relation with the relevant industrial contractors, plan, coordinate and validate the necessary ground implementations between ground users and the onboard LAN The successful candidate shall coordinate security implementations, audits and risk assessments in relation with the Security Control Board. In this capacity, the successful candidate shall participate to the ESA Security Control board SCB and other boards when relevant. The successful candidate shall produce and update at regular intervals an ESF CIDL. Heshe shall also produce an evolution plan and relevant ECRs to adapt and ensure continuity and availability of the ESF The successful candidate will conduct necessary validation tests and issue ESF validation reports. The successful candidate shall be responsible for definition IP addressing schemes and IP stack configuration definitions for users of Class3 PLs ground and board. The successful candidate shall produce validations plans and validation reports for the Class3 PL users ground implementations. The Ground Segment is centred on CADMOS a CNES facility for PL support, but has many external interfaces and includes its own science data processing capability. The Ground Segment is also the converging element between 3 separate contracts. Under the supervision of the Head of the Columbus Ground Segment Maintenance and Operations Section, the successful candidate will be required to fulfil the following tasks Technical coordination between the 3 contracts to achieve integration, readiness of the GS for operations, External interfaces coordination the successful candidate will be expected to coordinate, in cooperation with CADMOS, the finalisation and updates of external ICDs and Service Level Agreements Supervision of AIV activities at CADMOS acting as ESA coordinator for all technical matters Sustainability of the GS definition and oversight of maintenance implementation for the ACES GS system, the network of MWL GTs, and external interfaces Change management several changes will be made to the system during 2015 and 2016 which shall be coordinated and supervised. The successful candidate will submit a monthly report on the ACES GS activities.
