Overview The Science Communication Editor supports ESAs Science Communication Officer in securing an exciting and visible media presence of ESAs Science and Exploration activities. The specific tasks of the Science Communication Editor are To contribute to the definition of the content, and to support the editing of the material for the media presence of ESAs Science and Exploration activities To liaise, under the responsibility of the Science Division, with the scientists of the Science and Exploration missions in the production of content To liaise, under the responsibility of the Science Communication Officer, with the graphical and multimedia production team in the production of visual material To coordinate a pool of freelance editors To conceive and conduct social media campaigns To maintain regular contacts with media, including social media To organize media events, including briefing of speakers and follow up of requests from media To perform analyses of developing media trends and local impact reporting To setup outreach events in the ESA communication plan To support launch and mission events. Specific qualification requirements Science PhD or Masters in Science, further qualification in Journalism or Communication would be an asset. At least four years of work experience in science, engineering or technological communication within International Media andor Social media. A good synthesis ability and a basic understanding and interest for space science. Excellent spoken and written English fluency in French and other European languages is desirable. Good interaction skills and capacity to work under stressful situations. A fair knowledge in the following areas will be considered an additional advantage Web applications, Audiovisual requirements, Graphic design and layout. The contractors shall possess skills to cover and execute the tasks linked to their function including a highlevel of flexibility, good organisational and communication skills. Working under direct supervision of lead staff but autonomy in execution of tasks assigned is mandatory. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line with ESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included. Aurora assist with relocation both with support and financially. The European Space Research and Technology Centre ESTEC is the largest site and the technical heart of ESA. This nursery of European space activities is located in Noordwijk, Netherlands.
