(Telecompaper) Dialog Semiconductor announced a new deal with Apple securing revenues from the key customer over the next three years, while also transferring certain assets and around 300 employees to Apple. Apple will pay USD 300 million in cash for the transaction and prepay USD 300 million for Dialog products to be delivered over the next three years.

Dialog Semiconductor cuts revenue forecast after Apple scales back chip orders

(Telecompaper) German chipmaker Dialog Semiconductor adjusted its full-year revenue expectations downward by 5 percent after learning that Apple planned to reduce the share of main power management chips (PMICs) it sources from Dialog for its 2018 smartphone platform. Apple will source PMICs from two suppliers instead of just from Dialog for one of its three new iPhone models this year. It's the first time Dialog's custom PMICs will be dual sourced, said Dialog. The company said in a statement it still expects to see revenue growth in 2018, with revenue performance "strongly weighted" towards the second half of the year.

Apple to design own power chip, reduce ties with Dialog - report

(Telecompaper) Apple is designing its own main power management chips for use in iPhones as early as in 2018, cutting its dependence on Dialog Semiconductor, industry sources told the Nikkei Asian Review. The news sent Dialog's share price almost 20 percent lower.
