(Telecompaper) South Korean operator SK Telecom has partnered with Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics to interconnect their respective smart home platforms. Once realized, SK Telecom's Smart Home users will be able to control and monitor Samsung and LG's electronic products equipped with their own smart home capabilities via SK Telecom's Smart Home App.

Telefonica to start European trial of AT&T's smart home tech

(Telecompaper) AT&T and Telefonica have announced plans to begin a limited trial of AT&T's home security and automation service in Europe. Telefonica will be the first company to license AT&T's Digital Life platform, an IP-based, all wireless, home security, smart automation and energy management solution contained in a mobile app. AT&T said it would work with Telefonica to deploy the software and on-the-ground resources needed to operate the trial, with AT&T customising the user experience to be managed and hosted by Telefonica. The partners said the idea was to give OEMs and developers another channel to extend new services to global markets.

Smart locks next big IoT thing for Israeli firm

Israeli door and lock manufacturer Mul-T-Lock is marketing a new Bluetooth-based lock, which lets users create virtual "keys" on the spot to allow or deny access to homes or offices. Now owned by Swedish lock manufacturer Assa Abloy, the Yavne-based company's ENTR system lets users control entry from a smartphone, tablet, or other Bluetooth-enabled device.

LG Electronics will showcase its latest smart home technology at IFA 2015 in Berlin this week to enhance the lives of consumers. LG's new SmartThinQA Sensor can be attached to many traditional home appliances to make them "smart-aware".
