CERRITOS >> The former Best Plaza shopping center is undergoing an extensive $45 million renovation that will add more than a dozen new tenants, including Nordstrom Rack , Saks Off 5th and T.J. Maxx, when it opens later this year as Plaza 183. The shopping center and property, across the street from the Los Cerritos Center , had various vacancies and a declining appearance for several years, but was purchased more than a year ago by Centralcal Properties , which also is adding a 24 Hour Fitness, Old Navy, Off Broadway Shoes and several restaurants: Blaze Pizza, Habit Burger, Luna Grill, Jersey Mike's, Pier 76 Fish Grill and Wokcano.

Andersons gift helps rail-to-trail project on its way

Organizers of the effort to build a 24.5-mile recreation trail from Urbana to Kickapoo State Park hope that a $50,000 donation from The Andersons Inc. will spur more contributions to the $12 million project. "The Andersons is pleased to be able to support the construction of the Kickapoo Rail Trail," said Brian Stark, regional sales manager at the company's west Champaign grain storage plant.
