French new-car sales rise 10% percent in August on extra selling day

French new-car sales rose 9.7 percent in August boosted by an extra selling day, the country's CCFA industry body said today. Registrations rose to 92,052 cars in the seasonally slow holiday month from 83,715 a year earlier, the CCFA said in a statement.

This year, the Labor Day weekend sales days will be included in the September 2015 results, so the shift in the timing of Labor Day this year impacts the year-over-year results.

Mass. pending home sales jump 37 percent in July

The residential real-estate market has remained strong in Massachusetts this summer, with the latest evidence being a 37 percent jump in pending sales last month.
