McKesson Corp., which last week announced a North Texas expansion , is firing 1,600 people, or about 4 percent of its U.S. workforce, to cut costs after the drug distributor lost some key customers. The company, which earlier announced plans to add 975 jobs as part of a plan to consolidate offices in Irving, began a strategic review in January and determined that "reductions to our workforce would be necessary to align our cost structure with our business needs," according to an e-mailed statement.

Missing chef: Police are treating the disappearance of University of York worker Claudia Lawrence as murder despite no body ever being found The men, who are all in their 50s, were arrested in March and April last year in connection with the missing chef's death - and were released on police bail while investigations took place.
