Accounting for ozone: Study first to quantify impact of oil and gas emissions on Denver's ozone problem
2016-08-08 22:02:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
ScienceDaily: The first peer-reviewed study to directly quantify how emissions from oil and gas activities influence summertime ozone pollution in the Colorado Front Range confirms that chemical vapors from oil and gas activities are a significant contributor to the region's chronic ozone problem. Summertime ozone pollution levels in the northern Front Range periodically spike above 70 parts per billion (ppb), which is considered unhealthy -- on average, 17 ppb of that ozone is produced locally. The new research,...

University of So Paulo quantify countrys sugar industry
2015-10-19 08:56:15| Sugar Industry News
In Brazil, researchers led by the School of Economics and Business (FEARP) at the University of So Paulo have developed a method for mapping and quantification of productive chains and discuss the results of this method in the sugar cane chain in Brazil based on CHAINPlan that focuses on strategic planning and management of agribusiness systems. The study attempted to put a valuation on the countrys sugarcane industry, which came to around $43.4 billion, about 2% of the countrys overall GDP.

Using On-Line Mass Spectrometry (MS) To Monitor And Quantify Ethanol Vapor Productivity
2015-03-19 16:31:18| oilandgasonline Home Page
The Thermo Scientific Prima BT magnetic sector process mass spectrometer offers superior performance for online measurement stability and accuracy of ethanol, carbon dioxide, and oxygen from photobioreactors. Implementation of a modified ion source with glass lined entrance significantly improved accuracy of low concentration ethanol (20 – 100 ppm), and resulted in a significant increase in reactor sampling frequency due to reduced ethanol buildup and settling times.
