Mission Planning Software Engineer 2013019 Job Description We are looking for Software Engineer with a focus on Mission Planning Systems to support our customer EUMETSAT. The selected engineer will be involved in activities related to integration, verification and maintenance of the Mission Planning Schedule Execution Components of EUMETSATs Ground Segment. The main activities include The maintenance and evolution of the Mission Planning and Schedule Execution Components for the MTG programme The integration and verification of and Schedule Execution Components for the MTG programme The provision of Mission Planning Schedule execution test operations support for the MTG programme. This has resulted in an annual operating contract to perform ground operations for NASA missions, including 34 positions for Ground Station Engineer Operators, a Ground Station ManagerScheduler, and a Space Systems Engineer Software Engineer. This is a unique position which requires specialized knowledge of ground data systems, spacecraft communications, and programming embedded systems. EUMETSAT currently operates the Meteosat Transition Programme MTP space and ground satellite system, the Meteosat Second Generation MSG and the EUMETSAT Polar System EPS space and ground satellite systems Jason2 ground systems and a number of multimission facilities. The focus of routine operations at EUMETSAT is the provision, by effective utilisation of all elements of space and ground systems, of timely and reliable operational services to the users. The EUMETSAT TSS Technical and Scientific Support Department provides in an integrated manner scientific and engineering support to EUMETSATs programmes during the development and operations phases and process assurance and project control to the whole organisation. Within the TSS Department, the GSI Generic Systems and Infrastructure division is in charge of engineering, maintaining and upgrading generic ground segment functions, services, infrastructure and tools in response to requirements of operational and future programmes. In particular, the MCAT Mission Control Applications and Tools Team is responsible for the maintenance and evolution of all Satellites and Ground Segment MC applications and tools. This includes MC kernel, MC archive, Flight Dynamics, Mission Planning functions and the MCrelated tools.
