We are currently looking for a Mechanical Manufacturing Preparation Engineer to support our customer in Germany. Mechanical Manufacturing Preparation Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European leading system house, specialised in development and implementation of high technology solutions for space. Your responsibilities will include Creation and archiving of process definitions and procedures for mechanical manufacturing processes Advice to the design and development engineers regarding feasibility and cost effectiveness of production technologies Review of the manufacturing documents Preparation and coordination of the project work planning Creation of order lists and orders for purchased parts and forwarding to the Procurement Department Evaluation and management of the subcontractors with support of the Procurement and Quality Assurance Department Collection and evaluation of offers selection of suppliers Contracting and managing external contracts Input control in collaboration with project engineers and quality assurance Planning and implementation of the parts cleaning Ontime compilation of kits for the integration of modules. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in engineering manufacturing engineering mechanical engineering or equivalent with a focus on production Profound knowledge of standard manufacturing processes in mechanical engineering Several years of professional experience in the planning of manufacturing processes, support of subcontractors or in the input control for mechanical components Very good knowledge of MS Access and MS Project Good knowledge MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Fluency in English German is considered an asset. A vacancy has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer with Astrium in Stevenage. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying through Assembly, Integration and Test requirements from engineering concept to shop floor in controlled manner, and for ensuring quality and process robustness through continuous review and improvement of processes. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows To develop and build relationships both internally and externally and work as part of a team The accurate production of NC data including all checking and setting sheets in accordance with company procedures Actively seek to develop own learning and skills Ability to deliver multiple tasks to set time frames with minimal supervision Able to organise and manage own workload inline with production requirements The ability to understand and use company systems and software Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written internally and externally Awareness of QCD and the implications to the business Identify problems and apply technical knowledge to resolve them Suggest process improvements considering business benefits Takes responsibility for implementing improvements Is aware of the need to involve others as required Instigate request and purchase of tooling and small shop aids as necessary to support shop floor activities and aid incycle time reduction To write company documentation as required The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience Timeserved apprenticeship A background in an engineering environment, preferably with precision machining Relevant experience in a Manufacturing Machine shopMechanical Engineering Role Appreciation of machining techniques eg. Composite, Aluminium Honeycomb panels Able to read and understand engineering drawings Understanding of Computer Aided DesignComputer Aided Manufacturing software in a 3D environment Good understanding of machine language preferably ISO andor Heidenhain Time served engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications Desirable A good understanding of spacecraft manufacture and build philosophies A background in the space sector Please note that training on specific company tools will be provided.
