It boots from a USB drive on any compatible computer. Unlike CR OS, Chromium OS boots into the Chrome browser environment. It does not have a full Linux desktop under it to run other Linux applications.

Opera 15, the first version of Opera that ships with Google's Chromium backend instead of Presto, is now available to download for Windows and Mac. By switching to Chromium, Opera is now a lot faster (comparable to Chrome, in fact) and more compatible with HTML5 websites and apps. Opera 15 also introduces some interesting new features, including a reworked Speed Dial, and Discover, which is a bit like a built-in version of StumbleUpon.

Malware abuses Chromium Embedded Framework, developers fight back

A new version of the TDL rootkit-type malware program downloads and abuses an open-source library called the CEF (Chromium Embedded Framework) that allows developers to embed the Chromium Web rendering engine inside their own applications, according to security researchers from antivirus vendor Symantec. In an effort to temporarily block the abuse, CEF project administrators suspended the framework's primary download location on Google Code.
