Head of mechanical and structural engineering

We are looking for a senior engineer to lead our mechanical and structural team working on our orbital vehicle. You will be involved in design, development and testing of structural and moving systems on the launch vehicle including control mechanisms as part of GNC. You will need at least 7 years working experience on flight vehicles. Experience in CAD, thermal and FEA analysis, FMEA analysis is required. Experience in thrust vector control systems is highly desired. Company stock will be offered as part of the compensation. We are Australia and Singapores leading rocket company.

Spacecraft Structural Analysis Engineer

This position will lead the structural analysis efforts for ispaces lunar lander development. ispace is a leading microrobotics Japanese company with a subsidiary in the United States and another in Europe. ispaces Hakuto rover won the Google XPRIZE mobility milestone award. ispaces lunar lander is its next step towards prospecting for, mining and utilizing lunar resources to expand human presence in space. The ideal candidate will have experience in loads, dynamic and stress analyses for spacecraft applications, including launch vehicle induced loads and environments. This effort supports all phases of design of structures and mechanisms, from helping the team define system architecture, to design, analysis, and support of small scale manufacturing and testing. Key Responsibilities Participate in product definition, specification and requirements phases Support preliminary design including trade studies, material, component and manufacturing process selection Support detailed design of spacecraft components for thermal and structural performance Perform finite element analysis for optimizing design, especially for the vibration environment Supporting other engineers thermal analysis by providing and simplifying 3D models Supporting electrical engineers with mechanical requirements Support of hardware assembly, integration, testing and qualification efforts Basic Qualifications Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Three or more years experience in aerospace structural analysis Three or more years finite element analysis experience Experience with dynamic analysis for both low and high frequency loads and environments Experience supporting manufacturing processes and test activities Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills Preferred Experience Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a related field Analysis and simulation using composite materials Specific finite element analysis experience in transient, nonlinear problems Specific finite element analysis simulating performance in thermal and vibration environments Solidworks, FEMAP, VA One and NASTRAN experience Small spacecraft andor lander development, launch vehicle integration and test support

Location ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands Description Structural Engineer in the Structures Section, Structures, Mechanisms and Materials Division, Mechanical Department, Directorate of Technical, Engineering and Quality. The Structures Section provides functional support to ESA projects and carries out technological research RD in the fields of mechanical systems, structural design and verification, manufacturing, structural dynamics and application of lightweight structures. Duties Reporting to the Head of Section and within the technical fields described above, the main tasks and responsibilities of the post holder will include participating in feasibility studies for the preparation of specifications and analysis of industrial proposals providing functional support to approved spacecraft and payload projects and conceptual and feasibility studies in relation to all aspects of mechanical systems and configuration, structural design, analysis and mechanical testing identifying critical development problems and assisting in their resolution, which includes evaluating complete mechanical systems performing structural analysis as required to support the development of structure subsystems participating in major reviews of spacecraft, launchers and payloads establishing and evaluating specifications for the development and qualification of spacecraft system and subsystem structures with respect to defining requirements for environmentinduced loads, model development philosophy and relevant verification methods participating in the definition and execution of Agency standards and technology RD programmes with special emphasis on mechanical system and configuration aspects, lightweight structures, structural dynamics and advanced structural materials technologies supporting activities on structural integrity, evaluation of loads during the life of the structures and their impact in overall verification, including establishment of specifications, design, analysis, inspection and testing supporting concurrent design activities regarding mechanical systems aspects monitoring applicable scientific and technological trends and maintaining a stateoftheart expertise contributing to the dissemination of the results of activities performed and the transfer of knowledge across the Agency. A good knowledge of advanced methods of structural design, development and verification analysis and mechanical testing of spacecraft, payload, equipment and launchers is also required. Some years of experience in spacecraftpayload structures development and structural analysis, as well as with concurrent engineering, spacecraft conceptualfeasibility studies and interfaces with other spacecraft system disciplines is an asset.
