Associated Press: Republicans pushed veto-threatened legislation to build the Keystone XL oil pipeline through a Senate committee Thursday, but Democrats blocked plans for an immediate debate in the full Senate. The Energy and Natural Resources committee moved the bill closer to the floor on a 13-9 vote. Sen Joe Manchin of West Virginia, one of six Democrats sponsoring the bill, was the only committee Democrat to support it. (Telecompaper) India's Union Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Department of Telecom to proceed with an auction of frequencies in the 800, 900 and 800 MHz bands in February. The reserve price approved is INR 36.46 billion per MHz for pan-India frequencies in the 800 MHz, INR 39.80 billion for the 900 MHz band excluding Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta and J&K, and INR 21.91 billion excluding Maharashtra and West Bengal for the 1,800 MHz band. The estimated revenues from this auction are INR 648.4 billion, of which INR 160 billion is expected to be realized in the current financial year.

County approves bid to operate waste transfer station

Effective Jan. 12, the Medina County Central Processing Center in Westfield Township will be operated as a waste transfer station. Six companies submitted bids to county commissioners to operate the recycling center as a transfer station and on Tuesday they chose Dover, Ohio-based Kimble Companies.

Novo Nordisk today announced that the Food and Drug Administration has approved the new drug application for Saxenda , the first once-daily glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist for chronic weight management. Saxenda is indicated as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or who are overweight in the presence of at least one weight-related comorbid condition.
