We are currently looking for a Radio Navigation Engineer, with focus on GNSS signal, to work in Noordwijk. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Support and expertise to ESA activities enabling GNSS in safetycritical verticals applications Provide expertise and engineering support to ESA in the frame of its activities aiming to enable Global Navigation Satellite System GNSS in safetycritical verticals e.g. Railway, Maritime, Civil Aviation, etc., develop and demonstrate the associated concepts, technologies, solutions and standards. This includes in particular Support and provide expertise to ESA in the frame of Working Groups, standardisation bodies, etc., survey and report to ESA the stateoftheart and its evolutions Support monitoring of industrial and RD activities participate to reviews, support the preparation of those activities, etc. Analyse and simulate performance, solutions and concepts to enable GNSS in critical applications perform and participate to field campaigns, experiments, etc. Support and expertise for PVT assurance activities Expertise to analyse, define, design and test concepts, technologies and solutions existing or innovative in the field of Position Velocity Timing PNT assurance using GNSS and other Position Navigation Timing PNT technologies. Support ESA initiatives in this area with the update andor development of SW, User Equipment algorithms, simulation tools system, algorithms, etc. and testbed involving software. Testing of commercial solutions using laboratory tools and field trials. Support and expertise relating to cybersecurity of RF systems Expertise to analyse, define, design and test concepts, technologies and solutions in the field cyber security for Radio Frequency RF systems, covering transversally all application and scientific domains. Support ESA initiatives in this area with the update andor development of algorithms, simulation tools system, algorithms, etc. and testbed. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory PhD or Msc Engineering from a recognised Institution of secondary studies University, Ecole suprieure, etc. or equivalent. At least 4 years of relevant experience in the design and testing of Radio Navigation systems and equipment. Strong knowledge on the design of satellite navigation systems, ranging and positioning techniques, signal processing techniques and GNSS security and processing facilities. Expertise in the implementation, maintenance and operation of complex Radio Navigation processing, simulation and test facilities for spacecraft, aircraft, maritime and land mobile applications. Fluency in English. Eligibility to obtain a personal security clearance. The following skills would be highly desirable Knowledge of ESA and its programmesprojects. Our activities are focused more on technology development, not on technology integration. THE GSA AND GALILEOEGNOS SERVICES ENGINEERING The European GNSS Agency GSA is responsible for the operations and service provision for the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems GNSS EGNOS and Galileo. By developing a new generation of GNSS, Europe is laying the foundation for new hightechnology industry development, leading to job creation and economic growth. The EGNOS and Galileo services teams are in charge of managing the exploitation phases of the EGNOS and Galileo programmes. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The GNSS Standardisation Engineer will actively contribute to the definition, implementation and adoption of the EGNOS and Galileo services for various market segments, focusing on standardisation activities required at system level and user level. The job holder main tasks and responsibilities in principle will be Elaborate and maintain the EGNOS and Galileo standardisation plan, and coordinate GSAs activities with those of the European Commission, the European Space Agency and the Service Providers Contribute to the establishment of operating concepts with the user community, define typical equipment applications and operational goals, then develop and maintain the EGNOS and Galileo user segments requirements incl. Minimum Operational Performance Specifications Drive the standardisation of the EGNOS and Galileo services and receivers within the different user communities and standardisation fora including in particular EUROCAERTCA, IALA, RTCMIEC and support the representation of EGNOS and Galileo Programmes in ICAO and IMO Develop common service provision concepts and interfaces with the other SBAS Service Providers in close coordination with the EGNOS Service Provider Coordinate the work of contractors in support of the above activities Manage the GSAs standardisation activities Procurement and Grants Prepare Statements of Work, Technical Specifications and other related documentation Support the tendering procedure preparation, launch, award Follow the execution of the activity Liaise with other GSA departments as needed Security, Quality Assurance and Project Control Market development, regarding the collection and implementation of user needs into Galileo services Legal Procurement and Finance, for procurement related tasks Support the EGNOS and Galileo Services teams and contribute to any other tasks as necessary.
