Proximus launches new brand positioning, updates TV service as Pickx

(Telecompaper) Belgian operator Proximus has announced a new brand positioning, aimed at better responding to the digital demands of customers, the company said. In addition to the new tagline 'Think Possible', to highlight the possibilities of digital transformation, the company presented a new TV interface called Pickx, which will open the way to more third-party apps and services such as smart advertising and cloud gaming.

Orange leads growth in Belgian mobile market in Q1 as Telenet, Proximus struggle

(Telecompaper) Compared to the end of 2018, Orange added a net 63,000 new customers, while Proximus lost 16,000 and Telenet/Base shed another 26,000 mobile customers. This confirms the trend started in early 2017 when Orange relaunched its fixed services offer, with discounts and extra data for customers already taking its mobile services. The operator has been growing steadily since then, narrowing the gap in mobile market share with leader Proximus.

Proximus trims FY outlook after domestic revenues fall 2.2% in Q1

(Telecompaper) Belgian operator Proximus reported a drop of 2.2 percent in underlying domestic revenues in the first quarter, to EUR 1.096 billion. The company blamed the fall on lower handset sales and incoming mobile traffic, while noting this had little impact on the margin. The weak Q1 result prompted a change in the company's full-year outlook for "nearly stable" domestic revenues, with the forecast now excluding handset sales.

Proximus to cut jobs, off-shore under 'shift to digital' strategy

(Telecompaper) Proximus has confirmed the launch of a new reorganisation plan, with the aim of remaining relevant on the Belgian market and securing the company's future. The company noted that the telecom market in Belgian is not growing and that prices are also coming under pressure from "heavy regulations", and all this despite the increased demand for connectivity. The new #shifttodigital strategy will seek to make the company more digital and flexible and its employees more competent. The big goal will be to lower costs, with targeted savings of EUR 240 million by 2022. This will take place in various ways: by cutting jobs, making the company more efficient and by near- or off-shoring. The company also confirmed the further roll-out of its fibre network and preparation for 5G and said it wanted to further expand ICT activities.
