Callisto is seeking to recruit a telecommunications engineer experienced in satellite Ground Stations to join a team of engineers working in Darmstadt Germany. Tasks The primary areas of responsibility for this position will be the architectural design and specification of Ground Stations for Earth Observation satellites, defining interfaces to the ground segment and following the development life cycle of the Ground Stations through to acceptance and commissioning for operations. Other areas of responsibility will be Review and interpretation of high level system requirements and translation to GS requirements. Undertaking communications link analysis. Analysis of space segment and ground segment interfaces and data flows. Development of test and validation plans. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a degree in telecommunication engineering or equivalent and more than 3 years relevant experience in this field. Essential Ground Station system knowledge, covering both TTC and mission payload data acquisition. Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft TTC including ranging and tracking Working knowledge of main ground station subsystems including tracking antennas, RF equipment, baseband equipment, FT, MC Conversant with ECSS and CCSDS standards particular concerning spacelink communications. Link Budget analysis and propagation models Specification of complex ground systems. Fluency in English, both in speech and writing. Able to work independently, with good organizational, analytical and communications skills. Desirable Operation and maintenance of LEO ground stations Kaband satellite communications and ground station RF equipment In orbit testing of LEO EO satellites Requirements management and traceability tools such as DOORS Architectural systems design models and tools e.g. CORE We are seeking employees who are motivated and flexible and who are available to start work in Germany in mid 2014.
