Any decision to ban Huawei from the UK's 5G mobile network deployment would cost hundreds of millions of pounds and significantly delay the rollout of 5G in the country, according to UK based operator, Vodafone. Intel launches 5G network card, sees 5G modem platform complete by year-end

(Telecompaper) Intel launched at Mobile World Congress its FPGA Programmable Acceleration Card for 5G networks. The N3000 accelerates many virtualized workloads, ranging from 5G radio access networks to core network applications, the chipmaker said. Intel also announced that Ericsson is adopting its new SoC for mobile base stations and it's working with Skyworks and gateway manufacturers on integration of its 5G modem, with the first products available for testing by year-end.

5G is on track to account for 15% of global mobile connections by 2025, as the number of 5G network launches and compatible devices ramps up this year, according to a GSMA report published at MWC Barcelona 2019.
