Endicott College shows off solar panel
2014-05-06 22:12:00| American School & University
Endicott College in Beverly, Mass., officially introduced a 3,000-panel solar canopy on its campus. The photovoltaic canopy, which has been in operation since January, is the largest solar panel to date in Massachusetts and covers a 255-space parking lot. It produces 945 kilowatts of power, which accounts for between 7 and 10 percent of the school’s electric supply.

Tin-Based Solar Cell Could Be The Next Big Thing In Photovoltaics
2014-05-05 16:18:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
RedOrbit: Using readily available equipment, researchers at from Northwestern University have developed a new type of solar cell based on tin instead of lead perovskite, according to a new report in Nature Photonics. "This is a breakthrough in taking the lead out of a very promising type of solar cell, called a perovskite," said study author Mercouri G. Kanatzidis, an inorganic chemist at Northwestern. "Tin is a very viable material, and we have shown the material does work as an efficient solar cell."...
