Oil rig count shows recovery is beginning, analysts say

The number of United States rigs drilling for oil declined for a 29th consecutive week, but the total number of operating rigs has increased for the first time this year. Rigs drilling for natural gas increased by five for the week, which was more than the loss of three oil rigs from last week, according to data from oil services provider Baker Hughes.

Marcia Danab, an Oregon Department of Environmental Quality spokeswoman, said cleanup has begun - made easier because the asphalt cooled quickly once it hit the soil and water, forming a solid mass. "There was no fish kill, no sheen on the water," Danab said.
